Relation (Embrace in Light) (c)

Graphite on rough paper · 8 × 11 inches

In this version of “Relation,” two seated adult figures merge into a circular mass, with a child wrapped in the mother’s arms. Their limbs overlap, softening the distinction between them. Diagonal cross-hatching connects them to the surrounding space, creating an atmosphere rather than a boundary.

A pale circular form above—whether the sun or the moon—introduces a cosmic dimension, elevating the embrace beyond a mere private gesture. Intimacy becomes structural, almost gravitational.

Light and shadow intertwine across the textured paper, reinforcing their unity. The drawing encapsulates the concept of relation as an immersive experience—an architecture of closeness where tenderness and tension coexist.
