Relation (a)
Graphite on rough paper · 8 × 11 inches
“Relation (a)” examines proximity shaped by distance. Two elongated figures face one another within a sparse interior. Though leaning inward, a palpable gap separates them.
One rests against a rigid vertical plane; the other sits directly on the ground. Geometry contrasts with organic curvature, reinforcing emotional asymmetry.
Subtle floor lines draw attention to the space between them—the drawing’s true focal point. Connection exists, yet remains unresolved. Relation is defined not by fusion, but by tension sustained within closeness.
