Thinking Man (d)

Graphite on rough paper · 8 × 11 inches

“Thinking Man (d)”. This iteration grounds contemplation in weight. The seated figure forms a stable triangular base, legs firmly apart, torso rising in a gentle arc toward the bowed head. The hand cradles the temple with deliberate concentration.

Lower limbs are more fully modeled, anchoring the body in gravity, while the upper form remains sketch-like and open. Construction lines across the face emphasize process over polish—identity formed through thought rather than fixed expression.

Here, reflection feels embodied and physical. The thinker is not abstracted into a symbol but remains human—vulnerable, structured, and engaged in an evolving state of becoming.
