Graphite on rough paper · 8 × 11 inches

“Man & Man” explores the ambiguous boundary between struggle and embrace. Two muscular figures intertwine in a compressed space, their bodies fused into a single sculptural mass. At first glance, the pose suggests combat; upon closer viewing, it may also suggest protection or shared burden.

The upper figure arches back in tension, while the lower remains grounded and partially obscured. Conflict and support coexist within the same gesture. Rough paper disrupts the smoothness of the graphite, giving the forms a tactile immediacy.

Stripped of context, the encounter becomes archetypal—man confronting man, or perhaps himself. Strength is present, but so is vulnerability. The drawing reframes masculinity not as spectacle, but as relational tension shaped by proximity and dependence.
